Superstition is often defined as an irrational of unfounded notion in general and the term is used by umteen to merely show that they wish to characterise given judgements or opinion as false, misinformation or ignorance. (Bernardin, 2004) Many definitions choose been drop forward as to what superstition means, however it is not easily to define or distinguish superstition from other types of belief and action. The only thing that is evident about superstition is that it is reigning in that it can influence people how to act or not to act in everyday life.
I propose to image superstition in sport, as I became increasingly touched in the psychology of superstition recently whilst writing an search on the persistence of superstition in the world today. When researching I found superstition was evident in the professions, especially those which say a high level of anxiety, like competitive sports.
I have chosen the research question Does the use of superstition in sports increase with an increase in competition? because of the increased interest of competitive sports and sporting success in the public domain.
With numerous people today opting for some kind of sport as a hobby or follo clearg or keep a team means that sport is a frequent choice of interest, whether it be as an occupation, a means of outgo leisure time, watching or taking part in it, making it a relevant topic to research in todays hostelry.
