By Graham Greene I chose to choose a British writer´s Graham Greene´s criminal record The Heart of the Matter. It is a simileal legend that talks ab appear Major Henry Scobie, who whole kit and boodle in a British West African Colony. The Heart of the Matter won James Tait Black Memorial Prize for fiction in 1948. The story takes place in West Africa, where Scobie works in a British West African Colony. This confine represents the period of Greene´s life, where he worked for the Secret Intelligence proceeds in Sierra Leone during World War II. The writer tried to make clear that there is a big difference between sympathize with and compassion. Pity is depicted as an expression of ruthless pride. at that place is also religious theme running through the book. This book is written in a very readable and realistic language. There are not many metaphors and the storyline is light-headed to follow. The main ideas are clearly stated and written understandably. It was a very profound book, dealing with human psychology and relating it to dramatic human relations. For me it was a bit too gloomy with all these thoughts of a suicide and sins. I would definitely recommend this book to anybody, who is interested in religious and psychological novels.(346 words)
