These are all part of positive self esteem, this in turn will lead to a child having self confidence, the ability to form good relationships and the development of skills which will help them cope with the things life throws at them.
Within the setting, children are give strategies to help raise their self esteem leading to improve self confidence this, in turn, will help them protect themselves from harm and make decisions about their own safety.



These strategies include solidification time, pastrol support and nurture groups where children are encouraged to talk about their feelings in a safe environment. We likewise have an extended enrichment program that allows children to gain new experiences thus building their self esteem.
Children are also reminded by staff constantly not to run in school, not to swing on chairs and to pull in shoe laces. these give all the power to the child to make decisions to keep them safe. Appropriate, specific praise and rewards and differentiated work also help improve self esteem.
